Environmentally-Friendly Fertilizer Packets and Animal Repellants Made in the USA

The Johnson name is well-known in Southeastern Wisconsin landscaping and nursery circles … for three generations the Johnson family members have served the public as proprietors of Johnson’s Nursery and Johnson’s Landscaping – and now, Johnson’s Way.

Kevin Johnson is the third generation of the Johnson family at the helm of a business built on establishing thriving plants and trees. Kevin’s roots extend back to his grandfather, Clark Johnson, who founded Johnson’s Nursery in 1954. Kevin’s dad, Dale Johnson (member dalej), founded Johnson’s Landscaping in 1987. Now Dale works with Kevin to bring the best in plant care products to residential and commercial customers nationwide.

Johnson’s Way is one of only three Master Distributors of the Nutri-Pak

Recycling

Good subject. I believe that the companies whe get the raw (recycled) materials from consumers should contribute financially to the effort.

The financial incentive for the company I work at is this: Anything going to the landfill is charged by the pound. So the less going to the landfill, the less we pay. So we collect recyclables simply as a way not to pay to go to the dump.

Consumers need to have a financial incentive to recycle as well.

When we go to our local dump weekly, we have to sort, clean and seperate recyclables from common trash. What makes us do it? It’s the rules for our dump. Do we occasionally sneak some recyclable material in with the regular trash? Yep. Why? Because it’s easier. What would make us 100% compliant? Money. If we had to repay a deposit on materials or got paid per pound for materials, we’d surely do better. Somebody is getting the material we’re sorting and getting something for it.

How many plastic bottles from the now poplar bottled water (paying for water is another subject I’ll tackle later) end up in the landfills. The majority I’m sure. Maybe that’s a good start for deposits on bottles. I kind of like that idea.

Amazon Item of the Week: The Green Book

The Green Book: The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time (Paperback)

Ellen DeGeneres, Robert Redford, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Martha Stewart, Tyra Banks, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Tiki Barber, Owen Wilson, and Justin Timberlake tell you how they make a difference to the environment.
Inside The Green Book, find out how you can too:

  • Don’t ask for ATM receipts. If everyone in the United States refused their receipts, it would save a roll of paper more than two billion feet long, or enough to circle the equator fifteen times!
  • Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth. You’ll conserve up to five gallons of water per day. Throughout the entire United States, the daily savings could add up to more water than is consumed every day in all of New York City.
  • Get a voice-mail service for your home phone. If all answering machines in U.S. homes were replaced by voice-mail services, the annual energy savings would total nearly two billion kilowatt hours. The resulting reduction in air pollution would be equivalent to removing 250,000 cars from the road for a year!
  • With wit and authority, authors Elizabeth Rogers and Thomas Kostigen provide hundreds of solutions for all areas of your life, pinpointing the smallest changes that have the biggest impact on the health of our precious planet.
